Working Together To
Move Mountains
Mental illness can feel like an impossible mountain to climb, affecting entire communities and straining resources. But at Andrews Behavioral Health, we aren’t discouraged by the steepness of the path. We believe that even the toughest challenges can be overcome through determination and action.
That’s why we work closely with local leaders, law enforcement, doctors, hospitals, charities, churches, and other mental health providers. We Are Determined To Make a Difference
We don’t shy away from the tough terrain, because we believe that every person deserves the chance to thrive. Whether it’s reducing overcrowded hospitals, supporting families, or diverting individuals from jail to proper care, we are committed to tackling these uphill battles.
Breaking Barriers:
Rebuilding Broken Lives
Together, we break down barriers, reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness, and build a healthier, more connected East Texas. With your help, we will continue to make a lasting impact for those who need it most.
Uniting for Change:
Let’s Climb Together
Andrews Behavioral Health can’t move these mountains alone. We need our community—individuals, local businesses, and organizations—to join us in this journey. Whether you’re volunteering time, providing resources, or spreading awareness, your involvement is essential to driving positive change.
Major Outreach Programs:
Helping Our Community Climb Higher
Community Education: Guiding Our Region to
New Heights
Through community education, we offer mental health education to people and organizations throughout our region. We have a wide range of offerings including classes and seminars, as well as an educational presence at health fairs and local events. We also have speakers available provide motivational and educational presentations on a range of behavioral health topics.
East Texas Behavioral Health Summit
It’s become an annual event: On the first Tuesday each May, hundreds of community members gather at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center for an afternoon of education and support about mental healthcare resources in our community.
Smith County Behavioral Health Leadership Team
This group works to ensure timely and effective behavioral healthcare by finding and helping fill the gaps in care throughout Smith County. This includes mental health care and substance abuse services. The Behavioral Health Leadership Team connects stakeholders and rallies the community to work together to foster a united approach to mental healthcare.
Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) Jail Diversion Program
In collaboration with law enforcement, hospitals, and judges, we work to divert individuals with mental health challenges away from jail and general hospitals toward the proper care they need. Reaching out and connecting with people before they are in severe crisis is critical to improving the mental health landscape of our communities.
Planning and Network Advisory Community (PNAC)
This diverse group of consumers, family members, and survivors helps guide the future of mental healthcare in East Texas, making sure the community’s voice leads the way. If would like to lend your voice to this important cause, please call XXXXXXX XXXXXX at 903-XXX-XXX to learn more about joining our PNAC.
Open Board Meetings
We believe transparency is key in our climb toward progress. Our open board meetings invite the community to be part of the conversation, ensuring that the voices of those we serve are always heard.
Education and Training for Officials
We partner with county and city officials to provide education and training that improves mental health care across the region, collaborating with hospitals and agencies to ensure the best outcomes.
Disaster Services
In times of crisis, our staff works alongside local organizations and FEMA to offer coordinated mental health care, helping our community climb out of the depths of disaster with resilience.
Courtesy Therapy and Support: Helping Families Heal
We extend our services beyond clients to their families, offering therapy and support for loved ones. Our LOSS (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) team provides compassionate assistance to those grieving the loss of loved ones to suicide, offering hope and healing when it’s needed most.
Zero Suicide
Our suicide awareness programs—ASIST, ASK, and CALM—empower community members to recognize the warning signs of suicide and provide compassionate support. Our LOSS outreach program helps survivors of suicide process their loss and return to life. Our overarching goal, Zero Suicide, is an aspirational vision: to eliminate suicide in our region and create a future where no one faces their struggles alone.
