Andrews Behavioral Health:
Scaling New Heights in Care Since 1968
Andrews Behavioral Health has been moving mountains in the fields of mental, behavioral, and intellectual development healthcare across East Texas since 1968. Serving five counties—Smith, Henderson, Rains, Van Zandt, and Wood—our mission is to help more than 12,000 individuals each year ascend to new heights in their mental health journey. As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), we’re committed to providing accessible, high-quality care for all, regardless of financial limitations. Without Andrews, many of our clients would not be able to receive the help they desperately need.
Who We Serve:
Empowering East Texans to Reach New Heights
As the designated Local Mental Health Authority, Andrews Behavioral Health works alongside the State of Texas to provide mental health and developmental disability services across the region. Our mission is to help individuals rise above their challenges and lead lives of independence, fulfillment, and well-being. Our services are the foundation that supports the journey of our clients to mental health and well-being.
Our Goal:
Moving Mountains for Mental Health
We guide individuals on their journey to well-being by providing and coordinating comprehensive care. We strive to instill hope, growth, and positive change in every person we serve. Through our commitment to excellence, ethics, and trauma-informed care, we are helping individuals overcome the mountains they face, whether large or small, and ascend to a brighter future.
At Andrews Behavioral Health, three foundational principles guide all our services, benefiting both our clients and our internal team:
Trauma-Informed Care
We approach every interaction with sensitivity to the lasting effects of trauma, ensuring our care is compassionate, informed, and supportive of healing.
Zero Suicide Initiative
This aspirational goal reflects our commitment to preventing suicide. Our entire team is trained to recognize and respond to warning signs of suicidal ideation, fostering a culture of vigilance and care for both clients and colleagues.
Mental Health First Aid
Through this training, we equip our team to identify early signs of mental health challenges, from subtle shifts to significant symptoms, and provide timely interventions to prevent escalation.
Comprehensive Services:
Creating New Horizons for People in Need
Emergency Crisis Services
Our 24/7 crisis care provides immediate support, offering the lifeline needed when the challenges seem insurmountable. Whether through mobile outreach or on-site assistance, we ensure that help is just a call away.
Severe Mental Illness (Adults)
Our programs for adults with severe mental illness (including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and depression) offer the tools needed to manage symptoms and climb towards stability and improved well-being.
Severe Emotional Disturbances (Youth, Ages 3-18)
We support youth facing emotional and behavioral challenges. We work with families to help children reach new developmental heights through personalized, family-centered care.
Substance Use Disorders
Through outpatient counseling and group therapy, we guide individuals struggling with substance use towards a path of recovery, offering a safe route up from the depths of addiction.
Peer Services
Our peer-to-peer support services empower individuals to conquer their challenges by connecting them with mentors who have successfully scaled similar peaks in their own lives. Andrews peer specialists provide] the guidance and support of people with lived experience, who can walk side-by-side with clients on their journey.
IDD Services
Our Intellectual and Development Disability programs help individuals navigate their personal ascent, offering case management and community integration services that promote independence and active participation in their communities. IDD disorders are characterized by significant limitations in intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior, which covers everyday social and practical skills. These disabilities originate before the age of 18.
Autism Services (TLC)
Through the region's only full-time, center-based program, we help children and young adults with autism scale new developmental peaks through a combination of education and therapeutic care.
Veterans Services (Green Zone)
For our veterans, our Green Zone program offers a safe space for healing and connection, helping them navigate the mountains of PTSD and other challenges in the company of fellow veterans.
Integrated Health Care
Our holistic approach bridges mental and physical health care through our integrated health clinic in Tyler. We offer a full range of primary care and pharmacy services to ensure that all individuals can access the care they need for both mind and body.
